Fullerton Student Arrested for Modding a X-Box 360
Modding a X-Box 360 is a crime! The Cal State Fullerton student was arrested Monday on federal charges after the authorities learned that the 27-year-old Crippen illegally modified Xbox, Playstation, Wii and other video game consoles to enable the machines to play pirated video games.
Crippen, 27, of Anaheim, was taken into custody Monday morning by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The arrest follows his indictment by a federal grand jury on two counts of violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Why should he get put in jail exactly? If he’s modding other peoples consoles with their consent he really hasn’t done anything wrong after all once you buy the console you have the right to do anything you want with it so if someone wants someone else to mod it they can (At least I think thats the case). Besides if hes not the one playing the pirated games how come he get 10 years?

I love how much people on Youtube know about video games. Not Phil, the commentators. Anyway, no. Dante Stallworth killed his friend while drunk driving, and he got 30 DAYS! He even got off sooner than that. I mean, what the hell, right? This kid was trying to make money modding Xbox 360s, and he gets 10 year in jail. That’s ten years of his life, gone. And on every job application after that he’ll have to put down he was in jail. They are ruining his life basically.

Plus Microsoft did not make Modern Warfare 2 or any COD game, Activision publish the game and Infinity Ward develop it. Other companies like Treyarch have made COD spin off’s such as World At War. This is why COD comes out on all formats, PC, 360, PC and even the Wii, DS, and PSP get their own versions. If Microsoft made this game, it would be like them releasing Halo on the PS3.
